Week 4, Day 3

In our movie we begin to see the first of three keys to being a hero God’s way. It’s in something that Dom says to Brian during a lull in the action and explosions. It’s these words: Hold On to Your Family.

That’s what God would say as well. In the beginning, with Adam and Eve, God gave us the gift of children. He created one of life’s most celebrated joys – the family. So it’s no surprise that the concepts of marriage and the parent/child relationship dominate God’s Word.

In Scripture we read things like, “Husbands, go all out in love for your wives. Don’t take them for granted.” “Wives, understand and support your husbands.” “Kids, honor and obey your parents.” “Dads, don’t frustrate your children by coming down on them too hard.”

Again and again we see these instructions and the correlating promises. And why? Because outside of our relationship with God, family comprises the most defining and valued relationships in life.

Read Ephesians 5:25-33, Ephesians 6:1-4, Colossians 1:9-14, Colossians 3:18-21
