Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year. However, if we’re not careful, we can easily allow ourselves to be celebrating a season, rather than celebrating the ‘Reason’ for the season.
But I get it. Christmas can bring out the best in all of us; wanting to find that perfect gift, being unusually kind to others, being a blessing to those less fortunate, and even church attendance goes up.
But amidst all these, it is vital we keep our focus on Jesus, while finding pleasure in all of God’s blessings to us. I mean, it is okay to enjoy things, we just need to be careful we don’t worship them.
Therefore, take heed of the words of Winston Churchill, “Christmas is a season of not only rejoicing, but of reflection.”
So, may we take time to pause, reflect, take an honest inventory, and assure that as we celebrate, we keep our hearts and minds solely on Jesus.
