Several weeks ago, we talked about Mary.
I try to imagine how this young, teenage girl must have felt that eternal evening. What a pronouncement. But maybe more so, what a response. She is to carry and bring forth God’s Son – the One and only true Son – the Savior of mankind.
The entirety of God’s redemptive plan, now resting in the very womb of this humble Hebrew girl. Sure, I think it would be safe to assume, as it would be of any of us, that Mary did not grasp fully this Heavenly ask, but she obviously, by faith, embraced it without reservation. My question is, will we do the same?
For me, that is the key – Mary obeyed. We have no record of Mary’s words, or even deeds given in reservation. Just this profound ask, and Mary’s humbled response. And that is my hope for all of us. Whether we understand it, or even have to, that in the face of these uncertain and unprecedented times, we still, without hesitation, walk faithfully in God’s obedience.
My friends, what a glorious time of year, especially as we approach the celebration of the coming of our King. May we give Him the glory due, and may we live that glory out to a world in need.
