Thanks be to God for the gift we have in Christ Jesus who rescued us from the domain of darkness and transformed us to the kingdom of Light. And that light, the Light of the World, dwells within us (Colossians 1:13).
So how are we now supposed to live as this light? According to Paul, there are three ways.
First, we are to walk in love (Ephesians 5:1-2).
That means if we are at odds with our brother or sister in Christ, we are not walking in Light (1 John 1:7).
Secondly, we are to abstain from sin (Ephesians 5:3-7).
It is not that we are sinless, we just sin less. Our desire is the light, not the darkness.
Finally, we are to learn what pleases God (Ephesians 5:8-17).
This learning becomes evident in our character, conversation, and conduct when we are living out our faith as “children of the light”.
So, let us make it our aim to move ever closer to the Light, letting Jesus expose and remove any areas of darkness, so we can reflect His glory and goodness to the world around us.
