From the very beginning of mankind, God declared that we should NOT be alone (Genesis 2:18). We were created for relationships. Whether it be in marriage or friendship, we have a Divine need for others.
Now, consider the relationships you have nurtured thus far. Can you count on them no matter what? I hope so, because that is what God intended, when it comes to experiencing a true and honest friendship. Unfortunately, it appears many have struggled. It seems to be easier to walk away than press in when you need them most.
I will admit, the same has been true for me. I have experienced a lot more ‘lip’ service, than ‘life’ service. It seems many can talk a good game, rather than actually play it – you know what I mean.
But God’s intent, was that good friends not only have fun together, but when life gets hard, they are there for each other, no matter what. You see, when it comes to friendships, we need each other in the good and bad times.
And it is precisely these types of friendships that become such a powerful witness to the world. You see, life can be hard, right? But when God’s people live like they are supposed to, in life-giving, life-committed relationships, the world takes notice. My question to you, are you that kind of friend?
