It’s been said that success is never FINAL, and failure is never FATAL, but yet, so many miss that.
For me, success is a myth, if you define it by way of accomplishment. Because if success is really about accomplishing something, then what? Where do you go from there? If there’s more, then you weren’t really successful in the first place, depending on how you define success. Thus, success is never FINAL – meaning, there is always more.
But failure is never FATAL. And yet, how many have been paralyzed by it? It’s like a form of quicksand, if you don’t take immediate action, it will suck you under. And I know too many that have gone this way. If you would permit me to paraphrase the apostle Paul, “Failure is only fatal when you choose not to learn from it” (Philippians 3:13-14).
First of all, my friends, don’t chase success, be the success. In other words, remember your value is NOT in what you accomplish, but in what Jesus accomplished for you. Thus, I never have to arrive at being successful, I already am because of WHOSE I am. And secondly, life is filled with lessons. You will stumble, fall short, and miss the mark, but that’s not failure unless that is what you were chasing. Just consider every lesson as an opportunity to grow, to learn, and to just get better. What I’m discovering is that the hardest of times are really the best of times.
