Insider Information for LIFE Group Hosts

God calls us to be the hands and feet of Christ. Below are some serving opportunities that your LIFE group can be a part of. Check back often as we will continue to post new opportunities here.

One-Time Serving Opportunities

Truck Or Treat

On October 31st Celebrate is hosting our very own Trunk or Treat. This event gives you an opportunity to be creative while decorating your trunk and offering something tangible to all who come through our parking lot. Feel free to offer treats, trinkets or activities from car to car for our visiting Celebrate family and guests! The walk from trunk to trunk will end with hot chocolate and apple cider from the Celebrate KiDS truck, and shoot some hoops with the office crew from the Sioux Falls Skyforce!

Terry Redlin Family Literacy Night

Terry Redlin School has their Family Literacy Night coming up on Thursday, October 24th from 4:30-7:30pm at Oakview Library.  Families will get to sign up for a library card, enjoy a meal together and have an opportunity to make a craft bookmark. A scavenger hunt will also be available to see all the different ways the library can be utilized.  Click the link below to take part in promoting literacy at this fun event!

You are invited to find out what over 1.5 million couples worldwide have experienced – it’s FamilyLife’s Weekend to Remember, happening in Sioux Falls this November.

Special BOGO Offer Sept. 3rd – 24th: In an effort to make the Weekend more affordable to more couples, during this time range, registration goes from $350 per couple to $175. Thousands of testimonies tell us that the Weekend To Remember is one of the best investments they have made.

Ongoing Serving Opportunities

Adopt A Teacher Program

Adopt a teacher!  Encourage, uplift and support the staff at Terry Redlin Elementary School.  Write notes throughout the year, consistent prayer, send sentiments on special holidays, or fun ideas just because!  This is a great opportunity for an individual or LIFE group to serve on their own time. Contact Tricia at or (605)-357-7067 for staff members that are available to adopt!

Terry Redlin After School Program

Have a heart for kids?  Wanting to align with Celebrate’s signature vision of partnering with Terry Redlin students?  Offer the power of your presence to an elementary student at their after-school program.  Available volunteer times between 2:30-5:30pm on days school is in session. Opportunities include:

  • Prep and distribute snack 3:15-3:45
  • Host a Christmas party for the children
  • Prepare a science learning experience with your LIFEgroup
  • Tutor math or reading
  • Art projects and many other activities!

For more information contact Saundra at (540) 421-9683.

Mentors Needed at Terry Redlin

Even though it is still summer the staff at Terry Redlin has let us know that there are still students who are waiting for someone to mentor them starting this fall. Those interested in changing a child’s life and being a great source of encouragement as a mentor begin by filling out the application on Lutheran Social Services website. Follow this link for more information.

Adoption Care

Our adoption ministry is one of many ways that we give back to those who are looking to change their family for the better. In the coming months our adoption ministry has the great opportunity to serve and make meals for those families who have adopted or are considering adoption!

For more information please contact Kari Shields at 605-376-3611.

Celebrate Church Prison Ministry Opportunity

Celebrate Freedom, our own Prison Ministry, has been given the opportunity to work with Volunteers of America at their Summit Heights apartments in downtown Sioux Falls.  Our plan is to use the community room for a Saturday afternoon lunch of soup and sandwiches. This will help us build relationships, offer a brief spiritual program and eventually invite and transport them to 5pm Saturday service at Celebrate.

Two things are needed to accomplish this:

  1. Life Groups that will provide and serve a meal on Saturdays.  The more Life Groups involved, the less times they will serve.  Ideally we are hoping for ten Life Groups that will serve on a rotating basis.
  2. Sponsor and purchase Bibles (approximately $4-5 each) to be given to those that need them.  Any Life Group can take part in this.

If interested, please contact Al Neis (605)940-3777 or Rich Roste (605)359-2541. Thank you!
