Child Dedication

“Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people.”
Luke 2:52

What is Child Dedication?

At Celebrate, we believe that God has given parents a unique and sacred role in the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual development of their children. Our desire is to partner with you in this important journey from the earliest days of your child’s life. Child Dedication is a way for you to publicly state the foundation upon which you build your home. It’s an opportunity to covenant with God that you will raise your child to know and love Him.

What is the difference between Child Dedication and Baptism?

We believe that Baptism is for people who have made a conscious decision to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. Child Dedication is for parents who desire to publicly profess their faith and promise to raise their children to know and love God through their home and church.

Do I have to be a member of Celebrate Community Church to participate in Child Dedication?

Because Child Dedication is a covenant between parents and God to raise their child to know Christ, we believe that active participation in the church body is important. Active participation includes regular attendance, serving, LIFE Group participation, and being part of the Celebrate LIFE Journey. If you are not actively involved, Celebrate KiDS would love to meet with you about getting connected.

At what age can my child be dedicated?

We encourage parents to consider Dedication for their child between birth and age two. In certain situations, Dedication can be a very meaningful experience for parents of older children as well.

How does the ceremony work?

Families gather prior to the ceremony to welcome their family members and friends as they arrive. The ceremony will begin promptly at its scheduled time. During the ceremony, the pastor will share words of encouragement and guidance for the parents. Then, each family will be invited to come forward for an individual time of prayer and dedication.

How many people may I invite?

This is a special day for your family! There is no limit on the number of guests; we want you to invite grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends. For planning purposes, the Celebrate KiDS Team may follow-up with you to get an estimated number of attendees.

How long does the ceremony last?

The Child Dedication ceremony will last 45-50 minutes. For those interested, the Celebrate KiDS Nursery will be open for tours after the ceremony.

When is the next Child Dedication service?

Services are scheduled on select Saturday mornings throughout the year. After meeting with a Celebrate KiDS pastor, available dates will be provided.
